Craig Park

Project Overview

The City of Fridley is performing a drainage analysis of Craig Park due to frequent ponding of water adjacent to the tennis courts and the outfield area. This ponding impacts the use of the park and undermines the integrity of the park's infrastructure.

Project Update #3- September 23, 2020

Survey work was completed. Locations were marked on the tennis and basketball court to perform core samples in order to determine necessary rehabilitation work. Core samples will be taken the week of 9/23-9/28, sample locations will not be restored in anticipation of reconstruction work planned for summer 2021. 

Anticipated next steps: Bolton and Menk will utilize the collected data to finalize the drainage analysis. Once the drainage analysis is complete, the City will review anticipated impacts to park infrastructure and survey residents in the Park Service Area regarding any potential changes to the park.


Project Update #2- September 11, 2020

Soil borings were collected from three locations in the park on September 11, 2020

Anticipated next steps: Bolton and Menk will be completing a site survey as part of the drainage analysis. Once the drainage analysis is complete, the City will review anticipated impacts to park infrastructure and survey residents in the Park Service Area regarding any potential changes to the park.

Project Update #1- September 11, 2020

The City has contracted with Bolton & Menk to perform a drainage analysis of the site. This drainage analysis will determine what changes to the stormsewer system and park topography will be needed to alleviate the flooding in the park. Bolton & Menk will also analyze if it's possible to provide water quality treatment of stormwater in order to help protect the water quality of the Mississippi River. 

Anticipated next steps: Bolton and Menk will be completing soil borings and a site survey as part of the drainage analysis. Once the drainage analysis is complete, the City will review anticipated impacts to park infrastructure and survey residents in the Park Service Area regarding any potential changes to the park.
